Valentine’s Day this year was celebrated with a Romantic week away up on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. We stayed at the Wyndham resort at Golden Beach.

We had a lovely time and were able to relax and enjoy ourselves.

During our week of vacation we went out twice in the kayaks. Each time we paddled all of the way from Golden Beach over to the northern end of Bribie Island.

Greg blessed me with a lovely Valentine Day card to show how much he loves me.

On our last afternoon at Golden Beach we swam from the beach out to the sandbar in the middle of the waterway between Golden Beach and Bribie Island. It was an exhilarating swim through the deep channel.

Once we got to the sandbar we walked around for half an hour looking at the crabs, snails, shrimp that were in the small collections of water around the sandbar. We even saw a few sting-rays around the sand bar.

Swimming back across the channel was even more exhilarating as dusk fell. The thought that a shark could come up from below and grab our legs was quite stressful for me, but I am glad that I joined in and made the swim.

Overall the week was fantastic. Relaxing, refreshing and romantic! I love going on vacations!

My husband, Greg, and I were blessed in February this year to travel to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland to celebrate 3 years of marriage. It was refreshing to be able to spend time together at the pool and walking along the beach; time that is not usually available in our busy lives at home.

We stayed at Golden Beach Wyndham Resort for 5 nights and had a relaxing and fun time. The swimming pool at the resort is delightful; lovely tropical palms and other trees surround it. It was possible to find shade at one end of the pool or the other at most times of the day, which meant that we could just sit and chat without worrying about sun burn. We had a great time swimming and hanging out in both the swimming pool and spa.

We even each went down the slide at the resort pool several times on our holiday. We really enjoyed being about to use the slide. It was fun doing something a little exciting and different!

On Valentine’s Day we also had a romantic kayak trip all the way across from the resort beach to the northern end of Bribie Island and back. It was lovely spending time together doing something that we don’t normally have time for in our everyday life! The resort hired out the kayaks and so it was really easy to arrange the outing.

During the week we also were able to enjoy some local restaurants with some lovely meals. One day we drove up to Maroochydore, only 20 minutes away by car, and went to see a movie in the cinema there.

Overall, Greg and I found the 5 nights away to be fun, relaxing, romantic and refreshing. We look forward to coming back again for another holiday in future years.

We highly recommend the resort at Golden Beach for anyone who loves to relax and anyone who loves the beautiful landscape and weather that the Sunshine Coast offers. There was so much else that we could have done, but we will leave all of the touristy things for our next trip…
